People with low self esteem who don't get love from human sources (read: you, every single angry fatherless faggot crying at me, and most people on this board) do, yes, treat animals as 'part of their family', but at the end of the day no animal life is equal to a human's.
Now, of course, that doesn't mean "WELL THEN I GUESS YOU WANT TO TORTURE ALL ANIMALS, YOU HAVE NO EMPATHY FOR ANYONE" and it doesn't even logically lead to it outside of trying to build a strawman. It just means that if I were in a position where I had to save a human or animal life, I would pick the human every time, extremely easily.
