Landorus has something like 45% usage in OU. Incineroar is used because it has Intimidate, it's a Dark type so no Prankster priority against it, and it gets Fake Out and Parting Shot. The only reason Lando-T isn't more popular in OU is because there are a ton of other viable mons for each role it covers. That's not the case with Incineroar.

VGC is a joke Incelroar effectively makes it so that if you dont use it you are at a clear disadvantage. That causes the teambuilding to have a slot permanenly taken. Smogon bans offensive threats for this very reason - Dracovish needed at least a water absorb mon on every team to be dealt with, and they thought it was too centralizing. VGC goes above and beyond, not only if you have no intimidators youre deemed to lose but if you dont have the mon called Incineroar you voluntarily handicap yourself.
Not to talk about how you NEED protect on at least 4 mons and fake out options or, yep you got it, you lose.
Muh EV diversity is such a detail in a sea of unofficial restrictions that creativity is smothered. But hey at least its official right?

there are 3 fake out intimidate users but between scrafty hitmontop and incineroar, only one of them has parting shot

there are 3 superheavyweights with command grab side specials but between ganondorf ridley and bowser, only one of them has constant passive super armor

bowser and incineroar in this situation both have tools their respective counterparts dont, that doesnt mean theyre overpowered or that you arent allowed to use other options, it just means theyre easier to use

GameFreak doesnt like making support Pokemon because they know kids like mindlessly clicking buttons, so if a good support mons does appear they tend to stick around for many generations. Amoonguss has been a VGC staple using nearly the exact same moveset since gen fucking 5.

Yes. It was VGC 2017.
In VGC 2018, when Incineroar got Intimidate, it became the most used mon.
Because the big thing that makes Incineroar good is Intimidate, and everything else just serves to put it above other Intimidate users.

I trapped sooo many hoopas, leles and kyurem back in my days; in fact, it was so common a lot of players just saw the writing on the wall and forfeited right when the trapping happened

There was 12 seasons in this "year" of VGC, most of the seasons were pretty diverse, but especially the last one and few others were absolute trash thanks to the restricted Pokemon being allowed. If it was like this yeah there would be no point, but luckily its not.

Dugtrio was used to remove Pokemon that could stonewall stall. Stallbusters almost universally are in the 85 - 110 speed range, and they all get trapped and outsped by Doug. Nidoking? Dead. Lele? Flattened. Hoopa-U? Annihilated. Blacephalon? Flatlined. The only exception was Gliscor, which is one of the most unintuitive stallbreakers in the series since it breaks stall by outstalling stall.

Dodging hits helps anything, but most of the Pokemon with Minimize are fat fuckers like Clefable, Chansey, Blissey, Wigglytuff, and Sandaconda. Offensive Pokemon get gimped because they have to carry 60 bp moves and can't waste moveslots or turns on Double Team.

I don't follow the VCG but I often see lists of teams like the one above where everything's is the same, and the few times I've watched worlds matches, it's also somethings similar where most people are running identical teams. Evasion isn't stall because stall is slow and boring and evasion is fast and fun.

Well it all changed just this "VGC year" (the usual VGC year lasting 3 instead this time thanks to covid), usually its Regional Pokedex on year 1 of the new Generation, then year 2 is National dex and year 3 allows 2 restricted Pokemon per team.

But this time there was seasons, each lasting just 2 months and the allowed Pokemon/rules changed almost every season so it was quite diverse.

The restricted format is usually the worst and most centralizing. Then National dex format can vary from good to so-so but the Regional pokedex format is usually fun and very diverse, pic related, it says a lot, VGC 2014 was amazing.
