>>51383572I think it's because GF and TRCi are scared of ANY potential backlash after SWSH, for obvious reasons. SWSH still sold amazingly well, but it was marred with controversy and it brought a lot of things to the surface the average normal Pokemon fan tends to ignore because of the fact it's Pokemon; and it's only strengthened the resolve of those who want to point out the problems (whether legitmate or nitpick-y.) People dumped the XY Models ASAP, but they weren't analyzing them and comparing them to judge GF's skillset, but because of a comment by them, you had people analyzing the individual frames of animations to see where GF skimped out.
They can ignore this, for now, because SWSH did well enough; but what if they're hit by the same controversy again? People, even the die-hard fans and non-players, would be hit with another round of bad press; and the brand can only stand so much when it becomes associated with shoddy work and lazy effort, repeatedly. Even if it still sells well now, that will effect it's future.
So with people mostly having shut up about SWSH, and a new game on the horizon that fans already have to be baseline interested in just be association, why risk any bad press and only highlight specific things you want to market the game and it's merch around? If people don't know what they're getting, they can't complain, and can blindy support the brand they love? If the game is average, cost sunk fallacy to fans who can point out the few positive addition and 'WELL IT SOLD WELL, SO IT'S GOOD AUTOMATICALLY!' But, if we know all about the game now, we'll be able to compare it to the last games even the fans said were lazy to see exactly how much it improved, and the last controversy may have hit a point where, if confronted directly with it, fans may hit a breaking point.
They gotta manipulate us to keep thinking everything is okay, and the only way to do that is a lack of information.
