How do you even get excited for single player?
I can not do it.
It basically every Pokemon game is the same.
Sure it was exciting when I was a kid however the
>Catch specific type pokemon to have type advantage.
Is really boring.
Also every game is the same you start with you starter.
Get literal trash like rattata or bugs in the grass at the start.
Then get more types of mons.
Water pokemon are not available until the mid game.
Fire pokemon only if you are 70% in (not counting your starter).
And this brings another problem for people who know how pokemon games look.
Knowing all of this your starter should always be a fire type since you will not get a fire type until you are over half in the game.
And the strategy is picking mons who have type advantage.
Really boring.
in contrast Mario games are the same thing basically however I always get excited for one since they involve action based interactions not menu clicking.
I seriously do not know how pokemon can be made interesting without throwing the entire type chart into the trash.
I think DOTA is a great example.
Theoretically you can do great things with every heroes some are better then others and some combinations will be stronger or stranger or more difficult.
In pokemon since the battle system is the way it is ... some combinations like mono type team can get you fucked or grind.
Dotas separation into support or carry is far more interesting then rock paper scissor advantage.
Also how about random pokemon in the grass like in some rom hacks, this can make a interesting game.
or how about getting a option to like in the second town literally get random mons?
The game creates 3 teams of 6 mons who are randomly selected and you chose what team you like to teak. These teams are always random and unique to a game.
These are my thoughts.
