Lianpumon over here also has a level of mystery to them as well, we know it turns Digimon into masks, but the masks it uses for powers are entirely unique. Its theme comes from a Brazilian opera as well so it being a strange ape with webbed talons seemingly torturing strangers at random - while not being explicitly villainous- is just kinda cool and weird
With Pokemon every single element is explained and laid out to fully understand, and are not even allowed to exist outside the bubble of "it could naturally be someone's pet". Grafaifaiawhatever can have the poison berry markings but they go through a process of even explaining why it paints shit and how it generates poison out of berries and its just too much
