All it says is the armor belonged to a distinguished warrior. The qualifications for being a distinguished warrior may have been a lot lower or one warrior had a lot of sets of armor.

Again, it depends largely on context. Not to mention that we don't know how rare this Pokemon is, if it's an item evolution then it could be exceptionally rare, which would jive with its backstory. It's also worth mentioning that this reads like a Pokedex entry and could easily be bullshit, if they know the armor belongs to a distinguished soldier then why is it just lying around? Shouldn't it be in a museum or something? Don't think about it too hard.
