After growing up, she stopped going with him and some time after he died. He began to haunted this convenience store in the hope to see her again. At the end, you hear a girl mentioning that she used to visit the store with her grandfather, who she claims was her "best friend" when she was little. And she explains to her friend that when she started school, she didn't have much time to play with her grandfather. In her heart, she wanted to spend more time with him and misses him every day.
And that's only two stories. Yokai Watch can really be a tearjerker, which is why I liked it. Pokemon had a sense of sadness at the beginning (the Butterfree episode). But it becames too bland.
