IT wasn't even that, Creators THOUGHT that westerners would have a problem with Brock's skin but then it turned out no one had a problem with Brock in the first place and hated Tracey (which is why brock came back)

It wasn't his skin, they thought his eyes would be offensive or something even though the show as made by Asians and everyone though Brock was black.
This was a decision made before the anime fully entered the west I think, because after the Porygon incident they were extremely careful with everything they did

If only they realised they'd just need to wait another decade or so to realise just how right they were that insufferable assholes would want to shoehorn in Gary Stu or Mary Sue 'diverse characters'. Ironically, if they got rid of Brock and replaced him with another Anglo Saxon character again, the same Twitter losers would cry about wokewashing, because they don't give a shit about anything except their cult.
