>>51440614Gen 8 quality reflects on the music, it has the biggest amount of bland tracks, it has bland tracks at all which arent normal in pokemon, it has tracks that feel like they're in their beta versions, it has no track for the basically inexistent grunts of macro cosmos which is replaced with sonic 2 autism, possibly the ugliest music track in the entire series, the DLC tracks in particular lack even more then the base game ones, especially the battle ones, it repeats leitmotifs way too much to the point that most cities, routes and scenes in the game are the same melody remixed and repeated (first route, the wolves). It has no tracks that stick out a lot and that difference themselves to others at that, and even the third legendary apocalyptic track is less impactful than those of all generations prior.
I only put it higher than gen 2 because it has the best style out of all gens, the problem, like the rest of the game, is the production. It plays with the music well in the gym leader battle by having 4 sections, the Eternatus battle is amazing, the rivals are amazing, the enhanced rivals in the "elite 4" are a cool addition too, and the wild areas in general are all very valid.
Gen 2 is too babyish and happygolucky for my taste so gen 8 goes over at least that.
Even including Legends it's hard to put it over other gens, maybe only gen 1 for the same reasons
