It now grows the apples that the Applin live in and the Flapple wear, so it's also got a bit of a hive aesthetic. I'd keep the droopy-cute mood, but it's now much larger and widely set, like some of the big Ghibli monsters, I think.
I'd give it some Fire coverage, and play into a bit of a 'dragon-wildfire' thing. Flavorfully, this would also let an Appletun/trainer use it's hive as workers to make apple pie-ish dishes inside it's forest-back.
If you mean stats, I don't know, 100/40/145/100/80/20? Grass/Dragon is pretty shite, maybe a unique Ability that is like Thick Fat but a mythical/fairytale version, so Dragon/Fairy?
It's now got a unique Recover/Softboiled type move called Appleberry Treat or something. Apple Acid is now just Malus, which is the root word for Malic (of apples, malic acid is the core concept of the move) and it also means "bad, harmful". The general old energy it brings is the kind of vibe I wanted here.
So now it's like an ancient fantastical forest guardian, a big ol' thing that helps the lost and injured, and doles out nature's wrath as needed.
