>>51468825No they didn't, Gen 4 performed as per expected of a pokemon anime. It took quite awhile for Pokemon to actually be constantly stuck in a slump.
AG utterly ate shit and consistently had the worst ratings pokemon had seen for a long period so he got removed from his role, and it worked. However rather than not resonating, what people had issue with was poor production quality and an annoying sidekick.
Which doesn't really come off as not knowing your audience.
It took until XY until ratings started to dip in a notable way again(BW managed to bounce back from its failing ratings) and it shows in what they did after; and when it failed the anime has consistently taken hits.
JN is such a trainwreck that they swapped director again, and i doubt its actually managed to achieve a consistent viewerbase still.
Pokemon and the people working on it know that they have an IP that they know should automatically be producing better ratings; Pokemon as a brand is in no way much worse off so clearly the anime will get a boot shoved up its ass until it unfucks itself.
Or they're pulling budget from it which considering how much JN is shitting the bed, is pretty viable; just let it slowly decay and die out so you can still profit a bit. Pokemon could very well leave Ash in a ditch and start again without massive harm realistically.
