>>51468840Play Red and Blue. It's the simplest, the most vanilla Pokemon experience. No autism like breeding, shiny hunting, berries, contest/musical/pokeathlon, natures, abilities, double/triple/rotation battles, having to min-max EVs because of some 510 limit, battle facilities, gimmicks like Mega evolution/Z-moves/Dynamax/Terastal, etc. The region is the smallest and fastest (I guess you could say Johto is a bit smaller, but the Johto games have two regions), and it's also one of the easiest Pokemon games because the AI is retarded and will spam Rest and Agility against Poison types simply because those moves are Psychic types (and the opponent never runs out of PP). It also has the most iconic Pokemon glitches like Missingno, Mew/Trainer fly glitch, etc. Some things are bothersome, e.g. the ugly back sprites (fixed in Gen 2), the bag system (fixed in Gen 2), the boxes (fixed in Gen 3), etc. but those aren't enough to prevent it from being the best experience for newcomers.
