brock would return so thats a plus, Keksandra and Flowre as travelling buddies would be cool, with Edgie showing in a similar role to Gary.
as for team i think he would have:
Rectreem (the least offensive starter, safe pick (also allows edgie to get the dark type)
Hopault (goofy but strong comic relief)
Banageddon (gets it in triport as the mystery egg)
Sluggfugg (old habits die hard)
Emplyin (similarly a comic relief mon, that often butts heads with Hopault)
Spookzilla (seems like a trend that Ash has a psuedo or mythical on his team these past gens, so spookzilla for his coolness)
oh and of course Pikachu, just swap out the one you don't think fits.
i think that maybe edgie could have anonymouse as a foil to pikachu, and maybe keksandra could have pikotton as a friend
