I despise game journos but she's 100% right, they are not bad designs but they are actually WORSE than bad designs that at least resemble pokemon. They simply do not fit the aesthetic of pokemon as a whole and are pushing it in a direction I don't like.

Why are these mons a problem but not Gallade, Bisharp or Sawk/Throh? Idgi. They're better designs that most humanshape pokemon.

They don’t look at all out of place next to mons like scizor or deoxys who have been around since gen 2 and 3 respectively. That’s not even mentioning the low hanging fruit like gallade and bisharp that they actually resemble

Humanoid pokemon have always been a thing, and if nothing else they've actually just become less creepy/uncanny throughout the generations.

Mr. Mime is a literal human without a nose, Jynx is (intentionally or not) a racist caricature, Mahop line are kaiju heads on nearly-anatomically-correct male human bodies.

Armarouge and Ceruledge are objectively better designs than 2/3 of the lines I just mentioned.

Sawk/Throh, and Gallade are still "simple" designs.

Bisharp, Armarouge, and Ceruledge are too "complex". Designs are too busy and too much. Armarouge and Ceruledge look like Hollow Bastion enemies from Kingdom Hearts.
