Why did the anime give up on having the games's newer mcs be in it?

The female MC's only appear in the anime when they have plot significance. Since they started having online interactions with player avatars, they stopped giving female PC's canon roles in the games, to negate needing to add them to the anime (as the male's role is taken by Ash/Satoshi).

Would be neat to see Gloria in Galar episodes where she's not aged down like Serena, just so that she can be the middleman when Ash & Goh start arguing.

Even the rivals got second fiddle. Marnie was just a COTD, Hop was just 'Leon's brother' & Bede was just not there.

But yes, as >>51476481 has said, take note of patterns. If May is selected, Brendan still appears a bunch as a rival. If Dawn is selected, Lucas is still Rowan's assistant. If Serena is selected, Calem is your rival. For everyone else, they either don't exist or hang around a train all day.

I've looked for his hat online before and they're all either the tiny grandpa baseball hat or a literal children's hat. Not a single high quality snapback out there in a good design. It's such a missed opportunity, oh well, at least there's the Pokemon GO hats those are nice.

Specifically in the case of Black and White the anime was trying to mirror the game's marketing tactic at the time where it was a soft reboot with mostly similar elements to the original Red and Blue games, meaning the anime was trying to mirror the original series.
That's why Ash once again travels with two gym leaders around his age where one is an eccentric cook and the other is a bratty girl who constantly gets on his case for being a dumbass.

So they don't have to worry about effectively creating an entirely new character since they can't copypaste their game counterpart, as that conflicts with Ash's usual journey and goals.
And now as of Journeys, to cement that the anime is its own entity and no longer gives a fuck about centering itself around the latest core game for longer than a four episode special.
