I mean, people can have cows and pigs as pets, but some time later they have to choose between pet and meal.
I mean, a lot of people get piglets, give them some food, and when they are fat and old, they eat them.
And those who have cows they keep them until they can get milk, or sacrifice them when the costs are too much.
I'm not talking about being cruel, I'm just saying this is the realistic outlook. Still, is the pokemon world, so who cares?
