And the game plays the same, I mean, differences between the individual gens aside they're all still pokemon games, they should more or less play the same, I SHOULD be getting the same out of it, at least roughly.
But knowing that I can't get all of them anymore, that each gen forward I'll be beholden to the pokemon gamefreak will allow me to get back, instead of picking from the full roster and bringing my old pokes with me no issue, hoping every time, every few years a new gen comes out, that they'll allow my benched pokes back in has really put a damper on the experience.
It annoyed me and I thought I could get over it, but I can't, I really can't. It doesn't feel like pokemon if I can't catch 'em all. Knowing that every gen forward there will just be ones locked out from me, and only the grace of our corporate overlords may allow them back in in the next gen games feels wrong.
I don't want to be beholden to emotionless suits with dollar signs for eyes, deciding for me which I'm allowed to catch and bring in from older gens, I want to pick from the full pokemon roster and build my team my way, not theirs.
