The only other monster collecting/battling game I've enjoyed have been SMT games and the latest two(4:Apocalypse and V) had ass stories. The characters in V had less development than ones in modern Pokemon

Otherwise its generally pretty similar from what i recall?
And no dual types. Which is a way to make the game more boring, course a good RPG can function with other ideas but that implies any of the retards making clones or hacks actually understand good game design.

So yeah, just play a different genre if its getting dry as everyone who attempts a similar to pokemon formula manages to actually break the tard barrier.

From what I've heard V went through development and got reworked and restarted several times, we're probably missing a lot from what the game originally intended. Like for instance you were supposed to have a demon mount later in the game, some characters were supposed to have great importance, apparently it was gorier, some themes were dropped, they apparently redid the story almost right before they were ready for release

Any "rom hacks" that are made in RPG maker instead of being based on an existing ROM are dogshit. Most that rely on difficulty and champion level AI on every trainer as the main selling point are dogshit.

Here are the best ones I've played: Renegade Platinum, Emerald Rouge, Unbound, Storm Silver.

Don't know if it was what tuey were referring to but I remember Coromon cut down to like 15 types with some that were only moves (worked like sound does in Pokemon basically). It was especially weird when some of the combinations were things like Bug/Flying/Normal being 1 type making every early option pure normal.

Coromon was the game i was referring to; it reduces "pokemon types" to like 8 and simplifies them to generally 4 interactions and makes everything mono.
There is attacking types though, so yeah something like 15.

Everything being normal is certainly a pokemon thing to do; and definitely not in a good way. Bad design choices pokemon made being kept is pretty common among these things though.

I tried OU back in Gen 7 and I think the first actual loss I had was when I hit 1700 ELO. It's so mind numbingly fucking boring because Trannygon just bans everything that threatens stall so it just rolls over every Mexican who can't teambuild for shit. VGC was even worse, you just run the Pre Approved team and then remember when to click Fake Out and Protect 20 times in a row
