Not Pokemon with bad stats. Not "If I gave my fave 20 more speed he'd be OU". Stats that are just outright wrong.

Take Gigalith for Example
>His Pokedex entries are entirely about how he converts heat and sunlight into laser beams.
>His learnset is filled with basically every laser move in the game, including STAB power gem.
>Power Gem is the main attack on practically every NPC Gigalith you fight in GenV

A lot of starters in general suffer from this, since GF usually wants starters to be mixed attackers so idiot 7 year olds don't have to worry about which kind of attack they give their crutch mon. So there are a lot of starters that are very plainly Atk or SpAtk but get to do both. The Fire/Fighting trio is the most notable.

Except Blaziken was saved by Hoeen Privilege with a broken ability and an even more broken Megas. Infernape has good enough speed and mvoepool to make the mixed attacker thing work. .Emboar is the only Fire/Fighting stater that's "bad".

Read the OP. This isn't pokemon who are bad usability wise, this is Pokemon who are wrong thematically or whose stat spread doesn't match their aesthetics. Switching Gigaliths Atk and SpAtk wouldn't make it any better, but it would make it right. Blaziken being good or not is irrelevant.

Aurorus having 77 Attack when it could have went towards Defense and Special Attack annoys me. And it having less defenses than Alolan Ninetales also annoys me (72/92 vs. 75/100) and I find it bullshit that a fast Pokemon can have higher defenses than a slow Pokemon meant for team support.

Vikavolt is slow because it takes time to charge it's atacks, why can't retarda understand this? The speed stat doesnt represent movement speed, it represents atack speed. This is also why it's special atack stat is so high, it charges every atack before releasing it, thats it's entire gimmick

I remember being so hype for vikavolt when it was announced because of its flavor text saying it was a fast flying hard hitting special attacker only be the most disappointed i've ever been. The only thing that comes close to the disappointment of vikavolt being slower than 80% of all pokemon was nickit evolving into thievul

Because the speed stat is not movement speed is atacking speed. Vikavolt moves fast but it's atack take some time to charge so it's atacking speed it's slow

Pretty sure one of it’s Dex entries mentioned that it focused on quantity of punches over quality. Because of how psychical weak it is. So it having a low base attack makes sense.

It's garbage because it happens to also have a garbage physical movepool and a really low speed stat because the eeveelution stat distribution does it no favors. Hell, it is a special wall for some reason, its got like base 100-110 spdef

Flareons probably is actually the opposite. It has SpA is too high despite not having much special coverage anyway, leaving it with Low HP, Low Def, and Low Speed. So it can’t survive most of the hits it’s low speed forces it to take, in the the rare instance it can survive a hit it end op dying anyways due to recoil from Flare Blitz

A lot of that has to do with how eeveelutions are designed, they have rearranged stats.
They probably thought the only logical other spread; which would be a glass cannon with good stats all around wouldn't be distinct.

Flareon would just be "Jolteon except also with physical attack". But the eeveelution stat spread is three good stats and three awful 60ish stats.
Putting SpD into HP would have made it too similar to Vaporeon as well.(it also doesn't really match the image of thick fur, Flareon doesn't come off as durable) Flareons stat spread is both unique and fits its design and themes; even if it is dogshit in terms of gameplay.

I don't think it can learn Flamethrower or Ice Beam. But I agree with the rest. I like your idea. I really like Gigalith, one of my favorite Unova Pokemon, so I should have noticed this before.
I really want to see a Gigalith with very high special attack now, and see it use Steel Beam, Solar Beam and Meteor Beam

Gen1 aside, swapping SpDef and Speed would make Flareon fast enough to be useable but not faster than Jolteon.
And GameFreak doesn't seem to mind duplicating the stat line on them anyways.... Since Glaceon is quite literally a shitty version of Vaporeon.

Its a bad combo(bulky ice type) but its more true relative is Sylveon, who due to pixelate manages the same hard hitter niche even if its SpD is its true "good stat".

But yeah it would make sense to swap SpD and Speed. The only one with a similar spread is Leafeon and Leafeon has good phys bulk to make it distinct.

100 and 110 were extremely fast by gen 1 standards, with stuff like mewtwo and alakazam being faster on account of their psychic powers. There were also outliers like electrode and such, but BSTs were also lower overall so the point distribution actually mattered, there was such a thing as being too fast (electrode), too defensive (onix, cloyster), too fat (chansey, snorlax), too smart (alakazam) and so on.

I don't mean in terms of viability, I mean in twrms of stats that get sacrificed when they had another stat that was too high. Chansey has no attack or defense because its HP is so high, similarly snorlax had poor defense. Cloyster and onix sacrifice a lot of other stats for their high defense, and another top tier gen 1 mon, alakazam, sacrifices atk and def for its high speed and special stats. Those kinds or tradeoffs are less frequent nowadays, but you still see it somewhat in stuff like stonjourner and such.

TR ain't the best in singles (but it's workable) but in that and doubles a fuckton of mons either can set it like a champ, have nice abilities/utility or aren't pigeonholed into it. Vikavolt can't punch holes in walls when it's SLOWER then a lot of them and just dies to revenge killing or being set up on.

Chansey was a special attacker, so the former isn't even a downside. It had 105 Special which is actually better than most mons.
Most mons had poor stats, an "all rounder" like Tauros still had bad Special Attack. All mons are skewed to an extent because flat 80s or whatever are pretty boring.

Onix isn't meant to be an endgame mon, it has Rattata attack because its the first boss. Not because its got high defense, Cloyster has basically high stats in everything besides Special Defense for a reason; the only thing they wanted to be sure of was "each mon had a weak stat".
