I've done monobug runs for usum and swsh, and monoghost runs for usum, swsh and pla. I really like doing them when they work

I have been lately. I did an Ice run of SWSH, a Poison run of FRLG, a Water run of USUM, and a Steel run of BW2. They were all pretty fun and made me appreciate Pokemon I haven't used before.

If there's one thing home/bank did well it's that in most games you can almost immediately transfer in new pokemon to your game. So if you want to start a game with a different pokemon you can. Makes monotype runs much better when you can port in a level 5 baby version of whatever mon you wanted to start with

No the point is playing with one type. If you can't even get a pokemon of that type until halfway or later into a game you can't monotype it now can you retard

I started my first recently, just got to Victory Road in my Mono-ground Platinum run. It's been surprisingly fun, I'll definitely do this again soon.

I usually prefer to get a randomly generated team and try playing with it, but monotype challenge sounds pretty neat too

Nah I find them pretty boring, building cool teams is my favourite part of the game any monotypes are too limiting.
I've done a few 'monotype-adjacent' teams though. Basically monotypes but with some thematic off-type Pokemon to spice it up. Makes it more balanced and aesthetic at the same time.

This is a Fire-Breather team that uses Fire types + anything that learns Smokescreen
You could also do a Dragon Tamer that is allowed things in the Dragon egg group (letting you use Charizard/Sceptile/Arbok/Scrafty)
A Flying trainer that uses the non-Flying type bird Pokemon (Blaziken/Decidueye/etc)
Water trainer with Dhelmise/Grapploctl or whatever

I just think it makes things a bit more interesting

I almost always do now. Cleared Ultra Sun with an all Psychic team after getting a good Inkay, Slowpoke, and Beldum at the beginning. They can be challenging depending on which type and gen you choose, but you usually have enough options and coverage to not get roadblocked anywhere.

I’ve done these two plus mono-ice. All three were incredibly fun. I even managed to make a donk based ice team where everyone had at least one immunity. I allowed myself to use eggs to mitigate the late game only problem but I rationed them out as gym prizes so it wasn’t too easy

Monotype and theme runs are both based. I have enjoyed both. I want to try mono-dog at some point.

I always wanted to but never did. The issue is GF tends to group mons of a type together, it's monotype runs just become you with your stater for a few gyms and then suddenly a full team for the rest, which seems kinda boring for me.

Excadrill, Magnezone, Ferrothorn, Aggron, Lucario, and Metagross. It was honestly the easiest of all the monotypes I did because of how many resistances they had.
