They wrote themselves into a corner with this shit. They'll no doubt keep Ash as the main character forever (sadly), but what would even be the point of having him lose to Leon at this stage? He is now literally the 2nd best trainer in the world, he's beaten 4 champions, what else is there to prove? Is 'I want to beat Leon' going to be a perpetual thing in every generation from now on? Is the gen 9 champ going to miraculously be better than Leon because reasons and now SHE'S the one to beat and Leon becomes irrelevant despite being sucked off as the world's number one trainer for the past 3 years?
