Okay. Stupid question. I know episode 18 "Beauty and the Beach and episode 40 "Holiday Hi-Jynn" were officially dubbed into english.

But episode 35 "The Legend of Dratini" and episode 38 "Electric Soldier Porygon" were not dubbed into english officially(some say the one episode was dubbed just not aired)

My question is, is there any good fan dubbing of the 2 episodes?

Get got banned in the US because the idoit censores at the time(and even now) saw Jynx as a play on blackface when what she was was a play on the trend in Japan of Gyaru. Girls getting dark tans and bleaching their hair blond trying to look black.

Electric Soldier is a legit awesome episode and its too bad thats the one they had to make Pika go schizo and not some other boring episode. It may be my favorite from the original series.

Supposedly the Porygon episode wasn't just dubbed, they even edited the flashing footage to be slowed down, but at the last minute they prevented it from being aired to avoid any risks.

all of those were dubbed except the porygon episode. The beach episode was 95% dubbed and aired once before taken off.

Ganguro was well known enough to be parodied in videogames as early as 1998, Jynx is a few years earlier but it might've already been established by then. Jynx also has similarities to Woo the yeti from Ultraman, Groke the ice monster from Moomin (Moomin is very popular in Japan) and blackface monsters that appeared in the Dragon Quest series (Voodoo Gooroo, Headhunter, etc.). In fact, the ganguro thing seems like a secondary reference compared to those other potential inspirations which Jynx shares a lot more in common visually.

Unless you are talking about the ban itself being transphobic, it was banned because james has giant inflating tits, which isn’t really suitable for young children. Other episodes featuring James crossdressing still showed up in the west.
