Thanks! Gen 2's movesets are a bit shallow but for some reason that's really charming to me, each Pokemon having a very specific set from a small pool of moves. Obviously building sets is easier nowadays (especially with infinite use TMs and Move Relearners) but there's something charming about the way Pokemon used to be built in the earlier games.

Also nice to see your team progressing! Excellent picks, looking forward to seeing them all evolved.

Also, for fun, honorable mentions to some Pokemon that were on the team (or going to be on the team) but didn't make the cut.

I used Jumpluff, Forretress, and Smeargle earlier on, but ended up replacing them with Pokemon that were a bit more useful for single player.

Tyranitar and Misdreavus were going to be on my team in place of Quagsire and Piloswine, but due to them not being available until post-E4, I ended up going with others instead. It's a shame, because I really love those two. Maybe I'll train up some alts to use for rechallenging the league, and for use in Pokemon Stadium 2.

I'm playing through Grand Colosseum, I'm about halfway through the Shadow Pokemon Lab. I actually beat it las night but apparently forgot to save. Im enjoying the increase to difficulty and the different shadow pokemon encounters are nice. I've caught maybe 25 shadow pokemon so far and used over half of them. The only constant team members have been Umbreon, Espeon, and Blaziken. Aggron and Lanturn have been with me for a while now, since the Miror B fight.

I genuinely agree, I prefer the way it used to be in terms of movesets, they start out very minimal but as you progress and find more TMs and stuff and learn marginally better moves, you slowly start to put together a solid moveset. These days Pokémon get incredibly good moves simply by leveling up, and then you have 100 infinitely reusable TMs so you can just adapt your moveset perfectly for each battle on the fly. It’s convenient, sure, but it kinda takes all the forethought out of the experience and makes it impossible to find yourself in a suboptimal situation when a battle counters your moveset.

Ahaha, I don't usually use legendaries but it's one of the three flying types I have access to. Noctowl (now psychic/flying so has a type overlap with Espeon) and Tropius. I did use Tropius until I caught Articuno, it has thick fat now which helps it but it's so slow and gets double targeted a lot.

Decided to do a ghost monotype run through Shield after breeding a shiny Mimikyu and shiny Dreepy last week. I've been catching the other ghost pokemon in Galar too.
Currently getting ready for the semis. Going to try to make a push for the DLC story as well since I need another copy of the legendaries to fill out my living dex.

You mean like the cross gen evos? I guess if I were able to move the team from Crystal to a modern game, I'd evolve Ursaring and Piloswine still. I might now have three ground types, but I think Ursaluna is strong enough to hold its own and any potential weaknesses to Ground (Water, Ice, Grass) are all covered by other members of the team. Typhlosion alone actually handles all three. Movesets would probably change for all 6 though, given the Phys/Special split

I'm playing inclement emerald is it fine if I have a rain dance setter and swampert do do I want to lean in harder with the whole rain dance team comp? Current team is Swampert, Wailord, Aegislash, and Vikavolt and trying to fill in the games but between my Mega Swampert and Weakness Policy Wailord I don't see much use in adding in another swift swim users. Maybe Kingra if I really need the speed but outside of dragon it has a more limited moveset

currently running through soul silver with this team while rewatching first season of the anime. just got through e4 for the first time around.
rn on a streak of trying some battle tower allowed legends (and some mythicals sometimes) for playthrough teams. the celebi is a lv 10 jp mystery gift from 3rd gen. gotten via pkhex of course.
umbreon is from bill. it's like my 5th shiny ever and my first in a gen 4 game. i don't hunt them so yeah.
and skarm is bred so that it has drill peck from spearow.

I skipped sword and shield, this game looks more promising. The story and villain campaign being separate from the league is a good sign. But yeah I am worried it will be too easy.

You know what, fair enough. I also skipped SwSh but I'm going to get SV because it's more of a step forward for the franchise. I'm gonna wait to see what the final roster of new Pokemon are though, we're getting around 100 so plenty to pick from.

Playing Leaf green atm. About to go into Rock Tunnel. Currently have Ivysaur (Mary Jane), Pikachu (ChuChu), Mankey (Porkchop), Farfetch'd (Ch'ding), Paras (Fun Guy), and Meowth (Kit-Kat). The first four are battlers, Paras helps with Flash and Cut and Meowth is there for pickup.

Not too many. Since I didn't want to miss the Shaymin/Darkrai event, I did the first gym with Monferno months ago, so I missed the hardest gym for the team. Although it would have probably been a fury cutter sweep with Kriketune.

Combee and Kriketot carried until level 15 as the Burmy squad was totally useless. Had to delay Kriketot's evolution so it learns bug bite before the move relearner.

And final note, this team was IV bred (no egg moves at all) and are with HA if needed and nice pokeball. I really love the level ball Vespiquen and dream ball trash Wormadam. The high IVs would lower the difficulty a little, but I like having my team with good IVs.
