This is exactly why that nonsense "Nuzlockes are as bad as ROM Hacks" rumor picked up; real pokémon death generally comes from aging, illness, and certain circumstances, not battle damage. The mangas are the only media that's ever implied otherwise. That's why nuzlockes are conceptually noncanon and always will be. I hope one day they program the trainer AI to be able use a single revive on their team just to fuck with "muh permadeath" idiots.
It's always personally disliked whenever gamer chuds say "oh it died" when the pokémon only faints. It comes from playing too many other games where gameovers actually do say "You Died!", but pokémon isn't one of them.
