It's actually just as depressing as our world if not worse due to the whimsy involved, we just don't see it in the games very often because it's from the abstracted perspective of a prodigal protagonist who only cares about their Pokemon journey, and the rest of the franchise wouldn't dare touch that aspect due to it being likely to damage brand image and sanitization.
Wagecuck jobs still exist (and are basically a standard human's ONLY option due to how many Pokemon are willing to work for nothing more than praise and food that can do a man's job infinitely better), poverty's still an issue, crime still runs amok, urbanization and corporate greed dominate some regions, shitty work conditions, and unless your sudden transportation also made you a 10-14 year old, you'd be far too late to get seriously invested in any notable Pokemon-related scenes like the League Challenge or Contests.
