It feels like a slap in the face that all we can do is watch someone else catch every single Pokemon instead of being able to do so ourselves. It's a complete and total reversal to the relationship the anime has had with the games up until that point, and even trivializes all the aspects of the anime that I actually enjoyed, like how catching a Pokemon is a big responsibility, or the sheer gravitas and majesty of legendary Pokemon.
I seriously fucking hope they're not planning on making him a mainstay in the series, or god forbid, Ash's replacement. I gave up on Journeys after not very long, but if he stays I'll just be done with the anime entirely.
