>>51503079PMD is significantly easier and less overall complex than most roguelikes. There's less emergent gameplay, less focus on resource management, less customization, less replayability. The main appeal of a typical roguelike is to test out a bunch of different methods to make it through a dungeon and making hard snap decisions. It's actually not dissimilar to the Zero Isle stuff in PMD, just kept up over a whole game and usually done far more competently.
PMD exchanges a lot of what makes the roguelike genre interesting in exchange for its awful and overbearing story, so if all you play the PMD games for is to just...look at Pokemon, I guess, and read the stories you're not going to enjoy other roguelikes.
Honestly also at that point I'd recommend watching the Ashnime.
