Gyrados/Abomasnow/Medicham/Houndoom/Rhydon/Magnezone, all of them are lvl 50 except for Abomashow who's lvl 53. Only rules are set and no items in battle.

I need to set up some kinda sequence where I can DD against Bronzong while staying out of Espeon's Quick Attack range but I need 2 boosts to kill Gallade because it's level 57 or something absurd.

Psycho Cut 2HKO's it pretty handily and if rolls a crit, which it does fairly often, I obviously die with gen 4 crits being so strong and it being 7 levels above me. I think I might be able to do it with a lum berry and rest though, just realized I have that option.

Fought every trainer but I leveled 11 Pokemon so you don't get enough. That the rivals highest mon is 50 or 49 so the E4 is a pretty ridiculous jump for being quite literally 1 npc after the rival fight.

yeah judging from his team he actually does seem to have a really poor matchup against lucian. i'm going over their teams now and lucian's team actually looks stronger as cynthia's to me weirdly, they gave him like a bunch of really strong pokemon against things people would normally use vs a psychic trainer.

Magmortar can just melt it in seconds.

yeah but you still need to navigate magmortar into it which isn't that easy when you're at his lvl. the problem is his mons are underleveled and he's playing on set so he can't really safely navigate his party around while it gets battered by psychic spam and picked off by all the coverage they gave him.

I always say that lvl 50 is like the bare minimum level for your whole team before tackling sinnohs E4
55 is the actual recommended level
I usually just grind at iron island with riley, so that i dont waste much time grinding in victory road.
Fuck, partner trainers were so busted
Double the experience and full team heal after every battle
It still amazes me that people had trouble getting levels back then, cause they thought it was too slow.
Like you go to iron island with riley, and you just fuckin see steelixes that give you 1000 plus exp a pop. Water types just fuckin feast on that island.

Has any game been close to Platinum's E4 in difficulty? Bertha's Gliscor, Lucian's Bronzong, Gallade and Alakazam, Cynthia in general all had pretty decent sets vs ingame teams.

Especially her quag, cause it does not have a single attacking move (protect/sandstorm/toxic/double team)
But berthas gliscor gets super handled by any decent water type
Lucians has the bigger heavy hitters for sure

I stand corrected but he still has psychic types that are easy to get around. All you need is dark pulse/crunch on houndoom and if that fails switch in and out of gallade until its attack is super nerfed then spam DD. The AI wont switch the nerfed gallade out.

his pokemon are in the 50's while lucian's gallade is lvl 57. he doesn't really have that many turns to fuck around with swapping because it's going to just kill his gyarados eventually + he has a crit ratio move in psycho cut. also alakazam has focus blast so you're effectively hoping he dodges that which isn't strategy

Yeah you're gonna want everybody at least hitting level 55 for this to go well, maybe closer to 58-59 for level parity with Lucian. Go level grind on Iron Island or Victory Road.

In Gens 1, 3 and 4 I always get my team to level 55 (I do the same rules as you, but I get to do revives outside of battle, I let Pokémon faint for free switches if I find it necessary)
2 and 5 I only get them up to 45, due to Johto's level curve ans Unova's Exp. formula, and the levels of those leagues.

I may give up on the no faint rule at this point, but I’ve been pretty autistic about it for most of the game.
