Before SwSh Ohmori had actually done pretty well. ORAS and SM were both improvements over the previous game in the series in a lot of ways, they just started from lower with XY's big drop.

He's better than (current) Masuda and Turner, but those two are gone, so the next one who should go should be Ohmori. ORAS and SM still had plenty of flaws such as gimped dungeons and long drawn-out cutscenes, they just look good in comparison to hot garbage like SwSh and BDSP. SV already looks like a down grade from PLA is some aspects. If it ends up as bad as SwSh then he needs to go.

Eh, I'd say Iwao was also based.
He directed the most difficult Pokemon game and the best Pokemon game to be on the Switch.

I never got the hate for Masuda, he worked on some of the best games of the whole franchise and did amazing music tracks. Emerald, BW2 and Platinum wouldn't exist without him. There is too much focus on the characters and story in Ohmori games and Pokemon isn't about that.

XY has the after story with the girl and the mask, and SM has the after story of hunting ultra beasts.
Both have bare bones battle facilities. XY has the Chateau and Maison, and SM has the Battle Tree.
How do you not see that they have the same postgame?

I wonder if sound design is in the same category. Like all of the music 'easter eggs?' from gen 5, that changed the ost by talking to npcs, or how every tile in HGSS has an appropriate footstep sound. (grass tiles, dirt, pavement) As well as wooden doors opening having a different sound to pokemon center doors. The Golden Era had soulful sound design. (Platinum, HGSS, BW/B2W2)

As long as you don't mind the cutscenes (early on they are a nightmare but it gets better), they are decent games with a good difficulty curve despite the linearity.
Doesn't have the usual formula which helps.
