If Ash's plot armor is invincible then he would have been able to beat Mega Garchomp anyways. They didn't have Cynthia Mega because they wanted to give her the softest defeat possible. She uses a mechanic she's not as familiar with AND it's on a Pokemon that isn't her ace and it still comes down to the wire? She wasn't nerfed like Cynthiafags claim, they actually buffed her as hard as possible while still ultimately having her lose.

Not in Garchomp case. Cynthia is a great trainer according to you guys. If she didn't use Mega Garchomp it means she knew it was worse than the base one and it would decrease her chances of winning. Since speed is so important in the anime it would probably get KOd even faster

I think so. People keep talking about that sad song written for one of the upcoming episodes and how the composer talked about Ash's limitations or something like that. Leon has crushed the other competitors so I have a feeling we will get another Tobias situation. Ash will probably grab a win vs Dragapult, struggle but finally overpower Rillaboom, then realize he has too few Pokemon to deal with the rest of Leon's team and just go down fighting to the end. I think the biggest respect to give to Ash would be tying with Gmax Charizard like how he did with Tobias's Latios, but I don't think that will happen either.
My prediction is Leon will win with Charizard out on the field (still conscious), Dragapult and Rillaboom fainted, and his other 3 Pokemon not revealed.

Ultimately 'Chomp didn't end up vs a Fairy and she likely added Zen headbutt for more pressure on Ash's Fighting types. She is top of the strategy table between the top 4 of the tournament after all.

She also had different moves for Chomp in DP, so if she were up against Diantha - she would swap them.

They do take it into account here and there. Anime lets character to get away with a lot of stuff, but the main principles stay in place. So while yes, Zen Headbutt, maybe wasn't AS bad as it would be in games, but it is still a weak nonsensical choice.
It is unclear if swapping with previous anime versions is possible, and if it was why didn't she get dig. However you look at it it's hard to justify getting three dragon type moves.
