But I did play Gen 3 within a year of that, and Sableye's problem was that even with the typing it couldn't take a hit or deal it back. You're not living two neutral Surfs from say, a Tentacruel on 50 base HP and 65 Base SpDef. It's not gonna happen. That's why Taunt didn't help much, you were done anyway. Sableye wouldn't get Prankster until X/Y, and the Mega was a fucking beast, so until they ripped away its Mega, Sableye had actually become really good.
