that's not an animation btw. that's just the model moving up and down. they clearly didn't want to make a multi-hit move animation for all the mons that learn those moves. if they curated the mons' movesets better, we could have way better animatiions. or if they just had actual dev cycles like Nintendo games do.

Not an excuse when they cut half the dex and removed tons of moves. Not to mention that the same level of quality as shown in the OP happens across the board.

They reuse 80% of assets and have infinite money + numerous years to work on things, yet they refuse to improve anything because they know “people” like you will still buy and defend it.

Pokemon has a problem where a lot of these moves were designed with the abstraction of 2D in mind + moves need to be applicable to a larger number of Pokemon. Only signature moves get better animations, because they only need to be animated with one Pokemon in mind.

This one bugs me the most since even the first Stadium game had a pointer that said when you did moves like hyper beam to put the beam's release point in the correct spot and follow it, while modern pokemon games just have a beam show up from the space in front of of the center of a pokemon's model.

That's >>51510369 point. So many mons have wide array of moves so obviously it'll be impossible to coordinate animations given sheer number of moves. Mons that learn kicking and punching moves should have an animation for them however like the one in nidoqueen webm but add the moves usual flare.

the difference here is that for the signature move of a pokemon they expect to sell lots of merch for, compared to the average attack which doesn't get any effort put in at all. It's not that they are incapable of making nice looking moves, it's just they don't bother to put in effort where they don't feel it's needed.
