I love the aesthetics of LGPE. Hate the gimmicky Pokemon Go gameplay and the barrenness of the Kanto routes. It's surprising how even the interior of Pokemarts look detailed in LGPE.

If LGPE just had an option to turn wild encounters into normal battles it would be my preferred way to play Kanto. LGPE is far more enjoyable of a playthrough than FRLG (prior to the postgame) and the only thing that makes RBY replayable is nostalgia + stadium connectivity.

Unpopular opinion, but LGPE is the best-looking 3D game we've had thus far. The only things holding it back are the "faithful" blocky mapping from RBY/FRLG and the gimmicky GO-esque mechanics. Imagine if it had the original wild battle mechanics (or even the PLA ones, if they really wanna be innovative on that title) and updated the map layout to be more flow-y and natural.

really no excuse why they didn't make the diamond and pearl remakes look like this style. i understand why they didn't want to make it look like sword and shield because that would probably require a change in the geometry. but there really isn't excuse for how the game's look turned out. just effortless
