Nothing specific. Just swap-breeding in hopes of hatching a Shiny Magikarp. Its stats and ability will determine what I end up with.

Many times throughout the many games I've played. In Ultra Moon, for example, I did Type: Null.

I am hunting ribbons on the second shiny Hydreigon I hatched with the masuda method.

What are you playing?

I'm training these Hydreigon in USUM so the can run sets with roost. This second one will know roost, nasty plot, dark pulse and flash cannon when I've moved it up to sword and shield after her and I earn some Battle Tree ribbons.

Have you ever hunted a giftmon other than a starter?

I have not, that will eventually be a future goal of mine. I accidentally got Regieleki at full odds in SWSH just by trying to put the regular pallette in a beast ball.

Want to have all shiny megas registered in Home, except Diancie which will probably be impossible. I'm a living dex autist so I just Dexnav'd 2 Electrikes to mega one. Also chain fished a Carvanha and hope for a second soon. When I want to do something mindless I go for Mareep in Hordes

Poipole and Type: Null in UM, neither took very long. I intend to do it again in US, but hopefully I should be able to get the shiny charm this time beforehand.

Shiny Diance had a Japanese event but you will probably still have to inject it in (Pkhex allows you to just inject the eventmons)

How is chaining compared to Gen 4? Tried chaining a Farfetch'd swarm in Platinum a few weeks ago and it just gave out after about 20, made sure there were 4 patches, 4 rows away etc. Do you lose chains randomly?

Yes. Absolutely.
I got extremely lucky this time but usually? It's a crapshoot. Words can not explain the pain of getting to chain of 39 (highest chance for shines is at 40) and then have the chain break when you did nothing wrong.

I've heard statistically it's better to get to a chain of 17 and just keep resetting and yeah, I HAVE gotten a shiny that way. But it's a test of patience.

I still have flashbacks to the time I lost my 39 chain of Starly to a Bidoof in Platinum. Sucks that it's so random, at least with stuff like Dexnav the chains didn't matter that much and you at least upped the search level if you screwed up, they should've done some sort of passive bonus like that.

I'm hunting all giftmon who have released shinies in GO, the ones I've hunted in the proper games are: Pikachu x2, Eevee x7, Lapras, Togepi, Smoochum, Shuckle, Riolu, Zorua and Larvesta, the rest have been starters. I'm also hunting Type: Null, but haven't touched that one in a while.
