Stop right there. Geodude is fine. Graveler is 2000% NOT a cool humanoid monster. It looks awful with its doofus head. Golem was a definite improvement over it.

Golem is more humanoid than the other two though.
A head and a pair of arms doesn't make a humanoid. Four arms is too much to be humanoid.
Golem on the other hand, has a head, a torso, two arms and two legs. 100% humanoid.

Graveler and Machoke were intended to be traded for each other, that's why Machamp has 4 arms and Golem doesn't, and that's why Golem developed reptilian traits from the Machop line.

No it doesn't mention them together, they aren't even on the same page, just on consecutive pages because they are both cave dwelling lines and the book is organized by habitats. Machop line actually shares a page with Magmar, does that mean they are related?

Researchers not figuring out how they evolve is obviously referring to the fact that they are trade evolutions.

headcanon. You interpreting phrases in absurd ways isn't a proof. This is a headcanon theory which they most likely never intended to, just like with Cubone and Kangaskhan and Ditto. Then they may canonize these theories cause they make sense. Also lol to think gen 1 had such specific designs for evolutionary lines when they put in and excluded completely different pokemon from and in evolutionary lines, like Blastoise

Really the simplest explanation is that Graveler was originally meant to evolve into something else while Golem was designed separately and they eventually merged. Not unlike Wartortle and Blastoise

It is a Japanese book of comparative anatomy, although most find it terrifying, I love it since it helps in a more explicit way to understand animal anatomy.

For example, I hate that scene in Pinocchio where a human hand turns into a donkey's hoof.

Unpopular opinion, I always hated the idea that geodude was floating static since it broke a lot of coherence with the games, if it could float why didn't it dodge an earthquake? o Why would earth movements affect it? if it didn't make contact with the ground, why didn't people take advantage of its "magnetic repulsion" and use it as some kind of base for a bullet train? also how it performed the turning or rolling movements without performing traction.

And if everything was advantages, why does it lose that ability with its evolutions?

Geodude doesn't float in the games. It's clear from the Pokédex entries, which describe people stepping on them by accident, meaning they're on the ground. Floating geodude is an anime thing that stuck.

Golem and Machamp was supposed to be tied by fate. Graveler gave his extra arms to Machoke while Machoke trade off his reptilian features to Graveler. It's like a failed implementation of Shelmet/Karrablast-like cross evo due to programming limitations
