Personally feel like PLA's hype season was even worse. This time around we have actual leaks with actual images to back it up while PLA leaks were JUST Khu dropping hints that were a stretch even after the game came out and an even slower drip feed of info that was just repeating what we knew already and maybe showing a Hisuian Pokemon or a new character. Christ, it was just miserable. And it felt even worse because BDSP was a massive disappointment of a remake because it fucked up in so many ways. Like being slapped in the face by the waiter after bring you a cold appetizer that wasn't what you even wanted while waiting for your order. At least PLA was good enough that when it actually came out it was fun, despite the atrocious graphics and somewhat flimsy gameplay.
But what I wanna know is: are the fans on social media as bored as 4chan is right now? Are we just like this because we're adults who are harder to impress? Or did the pandemic worsen the quality of the games/suck the life out of everyone? If not the pandemic, was it the colossal shitstorm that was BBND changing the fandom forever and making longtime fans lose faith in Game Freak? Is it really this bad or are we just saying it is?
We still get art, we still get memes and porn, we still get threads flooding the board after a new trailer comes out. But it peters out really fast. It absolutely took ages for us to get actual info after the announcement of SV, and now we're getting fairly consistent monthly trailers. Their marketing this time around is just bizarre. We're all discussing how little info there is more than we're talking about the actual games. Are they trying to rile us up by making us bored like some kind of sensory deprivation technique so when the games come out they're better than they actually are? Like how simple sandwiches are extremely delicious when you're starving?
