There's much more variety at lower levels, also the same pokémon can carry several different sets unlike in singles where everyone runs the same 252/252/4 set

it isnt, pokemon is terribly designed for competitive ladders
unless they add separate stat spreads that monsters acquire for and are tuned/patched specifically for competitive then itll always be shit. metas last 2 or 3 years and are dominated by the same main characters because movesets, item values, and stats cant be adjusted

VGC is based and fun to play, especially these last few years. It's crazy that they finally made a format with restricted legendaries that had some variety and was fun to play.

Zacian and the weather twins were the best, yeah, but a lot more shit was very good and even some other stuff like Reshiram or Ho-oh was at least viable if not great. Compare that to 2016, where if you weren't using one of like four team archetypes you were throwing.
