Possibly even drugs that enhance their combat skills and violent instincts since it's the only explanation as to why "caught pokemon are stronger than wild ones", although then it needs a further explanation as to why deities lose their deity powers when affected by PokeBall drugs.
Furthermore, there's no way or explanation as to how a pokemon would only obey to the "owner of the PokeBall", although in the games that's inexistent and only been showed in animation, hence probably yet another uncanon anime headcanon. But it still doesn't explain how pokemon would be able to understand what humans are saying, realistically they'd have to teach them exactly like a dog overtime, and that's also the way they'd only obey to one trainer. Hence pokeballs make them inbred-impaired wolf (dog) state
