Nope, I like them a lot. It's a cool concept that makes the Pokemon world feel more real, like there's some actual kind of biological processes at work instead of it being a random jumble of creatures that are unrelated despite some having glaring similarities. Introducing real world concepts like natural selection and convergent evolution serve only to make the Pokemon world more immersive and interesting. I could understand disliking individual examples but the concept as a whole is great. The idea that the "slots" regional variants and the like take up would instead be filled with new Pokemon if the former didn't exist doesn't make much sense to me.

Except there's no logic to most of these regional variants other than simply needing to exist. It's just low effort nostalgia pandering. Plus, not every animal that's of similar species a convergent evolution of just one animal.

regional forms are trash, tbe concept of divergent evolution is cool, in tbe perspective of the already known ancestor of all Pokemon and that a lot of different species could easily be put together and have been like the hits

Frankly, I don’t care how they affect mainline games anymore. The only games I care about are either locked to history or Pokémon GO. Pokémon GO for the most part only gets access to new tools with the addition of regional forms, so they’re only an upside to me.

There is a lot of scientific names that don't really make sense but we still use because some drunk used them first, or because the animal happened to be included in a different taxon after being discovered.

They should've done regionals for gen 2 in USUM and that's all. Although regional evolutions aren't bad, theyre still only a missed opportunity to make an actual evolution. In a sense they're good because they're more contextualized and make the games more unique, especially now that there isn't the full roster anymore, but redesigns just got boring as shit
