>>51553004puns in names are still really common in jp, as well as speech modifiers/sentence enders that isnt commonplace in english unless forced and then weird. i didnt say they had no puns whatsoever in the entire language, just that its not as over the top as english dialog tends to be when there isnt a theme to be making puns about. i dont play splatoon so the only thing i can imagine youre referring to from what ive seen of the games is じゃなイカ or things like the stingray (ei) saying "ay" which jp loves to do, but you wont see them saying for example such alternate phrases as "you pickin up what im puttin down?" and will instead just say the standard "understand?" or "you got that?" (referring to any dialog, not just splatoon)
