It got its own spot in smash bros twice after CHARIZARD got cucked back into sharing a spot with squirtle and ivysaur and ivysaur being the best option. Only other win i can see for it.

Personally I'm gonna say that the best water starters go in this order
1. Mudkip
2. Oshawatt
3. Squirtle
4. Froaky
5. Piplup
6. Totadile
7. Popplio

I haven't played gen 8 as of yet but I don't like it's design at all so it default gets last place.

For me, totodile and pickup go up front. The first four occupy the first four slots, after that it's super debatable though.

I just like the design less than all the others. Not really a bad mon. I think pretty much all the water starters are best.

Heck my first game was pokemon red (only version left in stock) and I still chose blastoise because then as well as now I think he's way cooler than charizard
