the first mystery dungeon games actually had a reason to be seperate releases since one was on DS and one on GBA. Every single other one has no excuse and people just don't care because they can just buy one. I wish they had like a mini randomiser in each game like instead of electabuzz and magmar being in different game versions they would spawn in different saves depending on trainer code or some other RNG.

They actually were going to do that, with nearly every single copy of the game being slightly different due to the trainer ID, but Miyamoto told them to do two versions instead

Plus, I could see it being annoying if you and your 3 friends all buy the game and even between the 4 of you nobody has a game that has a scyther or something like that.
With concrete sets it means you get everything with a maximum of 2 games.
