When we mean quality we don't mean to promote violence, sex to attract adults. For God's sake. But to the story, to the script, to the direction, to the graphics, to the characters themselves. There should be an upgrade. It's a shame to hear that such a huge franchise has a small staff in the anime even in their own games. Still, I give them credit for what they've accomplished so far.

The games are the commercial while the anime, cards, merch are the main product. The games just exist to give more content for said anime/cards/merch, that's why quality for the games has never improved

DESU, does each Gen anime “series”need to be 130 episodes long to do its promotional job? It’s been dumped on streaming services in most countries anyways, so from an intentional standpoint it’s kind of a waste for them to be so long while almost anything launching on streaming tends to be much shorter. Even Power Rangers is doing shorter seasons but still making a shit ton of money for Hasbro.

If the anime broke itself down to smaller “seasons” to fill out the gen it could be a way to reduce costs and strain on staff and still produce a decent show. And we’d also get rid of pointless filler even kids find redundant.

Also ratings have been going down in Japan for years. Does it even need those time slots to it’s advertising job? There’s literal Pokémon merch stores, do they in reality depend that much on this show for sales?

Im not discarding the promotional importance of the show. I just feel like maybe they don’t have to invest as much as they think on it to do it’s job and could actually get better results if they decided to go for smaller production. Smaller show that still does the same promotional job and results means they can focus on better things in it.

Not really. This is a show that takes place in their world, by default they’re already forced to explore those relationships. They can then just focus on the ones that really matter.

Instead of focusing on filler characters 1 through 27 and their silly issues with with their respective shitmons, they can focus on supporting and game characters 1 through 5 and their respective shitmons. Or maybe even tie in some nice little stories that help further Ash or his companions in the season’s goals that relate to random character and shitmon.

There's lots of things the ashnime does that it doesn't have to that are mostly from tradition.

PR is a very particular franchise that you can't compare to, really, anything else.
sentai has produced weekly episodes longer than the ashnime has been a thing in any case.

I mostly do the PR comparison from an international standpoint. Not sentai. Long running series that’s been internationally popular since the 90’s, much like Pokémon that’s merch driven. They had a break for a few years, changed owners and downsized production yet still consistently make money. Sure some years might’ve been lower profit, but it has consistently been profitable regardless.

My point is just Anipoke might still be extremely profitable and do it’s job even if it scaled back its number of episodes per generation.

It already has in a sense. XY, SM and now JN are shorter than AG and DP and all where supposed to fulfill the same role. Be the established animated vehicle to promote that Gen.

AG went 4 years because they didn't have a game to launch for 2005 and DP ran 4 because it took Game Freak 4 years to make BW after launching DP in 2006.

NTA but yes I am raging at TPC or whoever has decided on only speeding up the rate at which generations are pushed out despite pretty much every aspect of the franchise suffering. I don't think you're making the point you think you're making here. The thing is that while the newer seasons are shorter, they still run back to back. Which in turn leaves fewer weeks for filler episodes and less time between "important" animation-heavy episodes. This makes it more taxing on the staff, if anything.
