If there's one game that must be axed just to bring Z back, it should be ORAS, not SM. There's no point to keep ORAS if it's not going to have all of Emerald's content.

ORAS would be completely redundant if Z were to exist. All the new mega evos would be in Z, and all the stuff about AZOTH and the extra lore stuff as well. SM would absolutely exist as the anniversary games and a break from the formula. But at the same time, ORAS were the Gen 3 remakes people were expecting for 2 generations so it was bound to happen as well. So unfortunately, Z was never meant to happen
