Can I beat the game with only using blastoise? (except for HMs)

Meant for pokemon original (red/blue).

Might also try with only pikachu on yellow

You can beat any game with any one Pokemon if you're willing to grind long enough. It would be easy with Blastoise.

Yes as a kid I had a level 100 Blastoise who knew surf, hydro pump, ice beam and earthquake and I stomped everyone. It was my best friend and I beat all the neighborhood kids with him via cable connection pvp (they were almost all charizard fags and I stomped any electric or grass threats with ice beam or earthquake).

My brother released him by accident. It broke my heart. I’d search the wild for him for weeks thinking I might be able to find him there.

When Pokémon silver came out I got Suicune shockingly early, where he was the highest level mon on my team. He became my ace. When I realized how rare this was I thought it was my Blastoise’s spirit returning to me. I always feel comfy when I think about that

Maybe Venusaur has a leg over it due to crit and status but blastoise is just some good Unga Bunga with the 2 hms you are forced to use at some point

blastoise is easier than bulba. Bulba is better if you have a team because crit leaf, body slam, sleep powder eventually, toxic seed if you are really under leveled, and there are tons of better water mons.
singlemon I'd have to think blastoise is better due to the TMs
Bubble for brock
bite or dig for the misty fight
dig for surge
ice beam for erika
dig for koga
probably dig or bodyslam for sabrina
surf for blaine and giovanni

I believe the speed running situation is that RBY all used to use Blastoise way back when people first started doing speedruns, but shortly afterwards everyone realized Nidoking was better and they switched to Nidoking.

Use TGB dual or BGB
TGB dual allows to play two roms at the same time side by side, while BGB allows to use link cable features over the network (you need to run two instances on different ports)

As far as I know, Krabby/Kingler, Lickitung and Mew are the only mons in Gen I that can learn Cut, Strenght and Surf, the HMs that you actually need to progress.

Factually incorrect. Caterpie/Metapod and Magikarp, as well as Kakuna if you don't evolve it from Weedle, are unable to beat the Gen 1 games due to having no way of hitting Ghost types.

Pikachu gets Quick Attack at level 16, thus giving it a way to hit. Past that, all you really need is enough oomph in your attacks and the ability to eat his attacks to win. Growl and Thundershock/Thunder Wave can be used as filler during Onix's Bide turns.

It just seems wild to have 2 different systems, one where they can and one where they can't run out of PP in the same game.
And wild Pokémon do use PP. Catch any Pokémon in red/blue and if it used a move it'll have less PP.

Theres a youtuber whos doing the entirety of the kanto dex in red and blue glitchless solo runs. He has some weird rules about it though like he'll abuse badge boosts since its impossible to not encounter it but wont abuse toxic+leech seed. Its pretty cool though.

Solo’d Yellow a few years ago with Pikachu. Longest part was leveling up to beat Brock, everything else was a cakewalk. Also did Poochyena solos in Emerald and Alpha Sapphire but I no longer have the pictures.

I’m on level 40, just beat the rocket team bad guys and got the scope. Think I will add ice beam in place of bubble and try Erika again and if I can’t I’ll go back to lavender and do Erika later.

It's probably just so they don't need to allocate ram for every member of the enemy team.

With a wild Pokemon, you can ensure it will only have to keep track of the one moveset. Trainer battles also track some additional data that wilds don't, like AI level, the party, and usable items

Nope, because I was very influenced by the anime at the time, and in it, a majority of the trainers only had a limited number of pokemons, often only one. The only one who really wanted to catch as many as possible was Paul. And I always found it more wholesome to have a limited number of pokemons that you cared about rather than a lot of pokemons that you couldn't care of.
