How do people watch the original Pokemon anime without cringing hard? I enjoyed it as a kid but find it unbearable now. Yet I have friends 5+ years older than me telling me they rewatch it for nostalgia. Is there something wrong with me, /vp/?

At a certain point the cringe became endearing to me. It's sincere, and reminds me of a simpler time before everyone and everything became cynical and jaded. I don't think cringe is inherently bad by any means, either.

I was rewatching parts of it recently and it's honestly a better dub than I remembered, it just has a lot of charm and personality, the whole anime has it, you can tell there are still people behind it that want to show off something fun or interesting

It's charm as a nostalgic piece of my childhood outweighs it's position as a not very good dub. It definitely gets better as it goes on though and the charm it had from being poor at the start becomes charm from it being actually entertaining at times.

Watching the dub doesn't count, because you'd find it cringe if you could understand Japanese. It's like how a lot of Spanish music is better to listen to if you don't know Spanish.
