That's literally Mai's entire character, she only exists to be saved by other male characters. The only time you see her win is off screen against Rex and that one ex of hers in a noncanon season no one cares about.

Only shitters cry about cheating. Real competitors use any advantage they can to claim victory. If I were a pokemon trainer I'd bring a gun and kill my opponent to win by default.

Are guns even really a viable option in a world with organisms that regularly survive lightning bolts, thousand foot drops, and direct explosions to the face? I'd imagine the closest thing they could produce to a firearm would be the equivalent to a pop gun in our world.
