You squealed at mummy for everything, I skipped Gen 3 entirely and gladly picked up all of Gen 4 as it was easier to gain access to a friend with a DS than expect to find a Pokémon player, back when it was still very much a kid-only thing in the meatspace. It's only since GO TPC have taken more of an interest in pushing at adults, but as I keep trying to explain to people, TPC aren't Game Freak and Game Freak pitch at kids as they're predictable as fuck and they have the 26 years of sales data to prove it.
The DLC sold more units than any singular rehash version managed because no rehash broke 10m units which the expansion pass breezed through easily.
