I kinda still wish it had a "proper" tail though...
And I don't fully understand the theme here. Before the palindrome name made sense in respect to the beta form and even the final form. But now the palindrome name doesn't really make sense since it doesn't have a back half. I guess the name is kinda "inside out" like the design?

It's how evolutions used to be designed, too.

I agree. Wyrdeer, Ursaluna and Basculegion/Overqwil (if we forget they're regional evolutions) are very cool too. But Farigiraf really has that crossgen evo vibes that I haven't felt since Gen 4.
