The idea is the second head is acting as armor for the main head. But since the main head is the one that does the eating and most of the decision making, it still needs access to the outside world.

It'd be a more interesting design personally if the tail was slowly devouring the rest of it, hence it scaling up the body to try and eat the head/brain of the other.

That's just me personally, I always wanted one where the black tail head was dominate. Just seems like a cooler idea and design to me.

Wouldn't mesh well with Girafarig themes though. Its dex entries have always focused on how the second head, while too small to think, still instinctively acts in the interests of the main body (keeping watch while the main head sleeps, protecting the rear, and such).

Yeah which would have been a nice play on it, that like it being a palindrome, the opposite happens. The small head becomes too over active in its thinking, while the giraffe head starts thinking less of its own interests.

I understand why people like this design though, nothing wrong with it, I just think it'd be better as the small head solely personally. Or at the very least the heads switched, or like the old beta design with two giraffe heads.

They definitely like to make memes about long Pokemon but I think you're giving them a little too much credit if you think the meme inspires the design and not the other way around. Especially in this case where it's a fucking giraffe, there's basically no way not to make it long.
